The Beautiful Struggle: Loc'd to Loose Natural!!!

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post since August! I'm so happy to be back. I'm finally finding the time to get some blogging done. I have some great product reviews coming with some awesome discount codes so stay tuned.

So today I want to update you guys on what is going on with my hair. I have been loc'd for 4 years and I recently decided to comb them out. When I gave birth to my first, Noah, my hair fell out like crazy. Any other moms out there lose a lot of hair after giving birth? Anyways I decided to comb them out before I give birth to my second in April to minimize the amount of hair loss I may experience. I believe that the weight of my locs made me lose more hair than I normally would have. Right now I'm about 75% done. I hope to be done this week with the help of a friend. Finally. I've gone this far alone, but I need HELP. It takes me an hour to get one out. With a 1 year old, I never have the time to sit and do my hair like I need to. So something that I thought would take me a few weeks is now taking me a few months. Its been two months since I've taken out my first loc. Here are pictures of my progress thus far. Comment below with any questions or concerns. I'll also use pictures of the tools I use to take my a hair out!

Items Used! Crochet needle for weaving hair, Tresemme' Naturals conditionser, and Jane Carter's leave in conditioner!

This is the first loc I took out.. Just to get an idea of how long my hair was. Also to see how long it would take. It took me an hour!!! -__-

Not playing any games now!
All this hair is just my edges!

I know you guys may be wondering how much hair I lost. The answer is A LOT. But the hair you lose is hair you are suppose to! You have years of fall out stored in your locs. So don't be alarmed when you see large chunks leaving. The more you do, the more you realize you have plenty of hair left. My hair is still very full and healthy.

Almost done...

I have a few more loc's to take out in the back. Once I do that I will post a comparison photo with my hair down. Side by side with the length of my locs and the length of my hair loose. But this is how much I have done now! Hit me up with any questions you may have. So far. I've loving my hair. I do miss my locs, but I was ready for something new. Now regrets.

Until Next time...
Love, Bee

  1. Try using something pointed to take your locs down. I used very thick needle and rat tailed comb (pointed end)to undo my daughter's hair. It took a week to do and on the last day I left 2 locs for the hairdresser to undo because I'd had enough!!!!!!! Her hair was in a tangled mess and needed someone professional to de-tangle it,wash it and condition it as I was knackered!! Good luck on your new journey. Check out You Tube for ideas on co-washing, oils and styles. Enjoy :)

  2. Wow...Always wondered how its done, & can it be done! Looks good
